Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQs)

Functional medicine is a very specific area that focuses on a few key things: finding the underlying cause of a patient’s health problems, using a laboratory based analysis system to determine what is wrong, using supplements to correct problems with medications as needed, and focusing ever more and more on lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, sleep and meditation.

Can I come in for IV therapies if I’m not a patient?

Each appointment is customized per the individual, depending on the consultation or physical appointment. This will be explained in detail, by our staff on the phone at the time you schedule the appointment.

Do you review charts or take Second Opinion appointments?

Yes, I do chart reviews and second opinion consultations.

What is the difference between Primary Care, Consult appointment and IV clearance visits?

Primary care implies that I will be your point man for healthcare. I want you to filter all of your health concerns through our office so that you can get the best expert advice for your decision-making. Consultation appointments are problem focused for specific issues in general. However, they can be for healthy people seeking optimal health. An IV clearance visit is simply that: a brief visit to assure that you are healthy enough to receive intravenous therapies.

How long do I need to plan on being in the office for my first visit?

Each appointment is customized per the individual, depending on the consultation or physical appointment. This will be explained in detail, by our Patient Coordinator on the phone at the time you schedule the appointment.

Do you take insurance?

Functional Medicine Florida does not accept insurance or Medicare, and we do not file insurance paperwork on your behalf. However, we will provide a detailed super bill for services performed for you to submit to your insurance carriers. We also work closely with the labs to provide them with the correct diagnostic codes for them to submit to your insurance company.

Insurance companies may cover a portion of medical services and laboratory tests performed by the physician based on individual contractual agreements between you and your insurance company. When labs are drawn insurance information is sent with specimen’s so, that labs may bill for their services.

New patients are required to pay for their visit 30 days prior to their first appointment. Payments can be broken into two payments. All follow up appointments payments are due when services are provided.
